Good Duke Gone Wild by Bethany Bennett [REVIEW]

Good Duke Gone (Bluestocking Booksellers Book #1) by Bethany Bennett

SPORTOCHICK’S MUSINGS: As a romance reader, I felt this book was entertaining and emotional so it really hits the heart in a way that leaves an impact after the story is done.

DESCRIPTION

In this dazzling historical romance, a Duke with a complicated romantic history and a bookseller with a family business to protect find themselves drawn to each other—even if their hidden secrets should keep them apart. Perfect for fans of USA Today bestsellers Lenora Bell and Sophie Jordan!

Dorian Whitaker, Duke of Holland, needs an heir after his so-called “fairytale marriage” ended in disaster. When the intriguing bookseller he’s hired to liquidate his late wife’s library finds love letters revealing an affair, he is drawn into a mystery alongside a lady whose sharp intellect dazzles him and dares him to imagine a new adventure outside the gilded cage of the Ton.

If anyone found out Caroline Danvers writes erotic novels under a pen name, she’d face utter ruin. Except her latest hero inspiration is none other than the Duke of Holland—a man with the power to destroy her family’s bookshop. And yet the real man proves to be so much more than the character she created. Even as they expose the dark secrets of his past, she knows he can never discover her own. But the more time they spend together, the more tempting it is to rewrite their ending and turn fantasy into reality.

REVIEW

What a delightful change for an historical romance. It was a little edgy for it’s era but still believable. Caroline was refreshing because she knew how to keep her personal power while being an intellectual woman and in love. The were several times in the storyline that she stood firmly in protecting her integrity and walking away. It was refreshing.

The Duke of Holland had a muti-faceted character with many hidden sides to him that only Caro saw. The author did a superb job of bringing out his softer side while maintaining his Dukeness status. I know that is a wordy sentence but seriously I wouldn’t want the pressures of being a Duke.

As a romance reader, I felt this book was entertaining and emotional so it really hits the heart in a way that leaves an impact after the story is done.
